Eve, the Trainer
Eve began personal training in 2002 at Galveston Health and Racquet Club. At the time, she wasn't sure what it was about, but had been exercising and active her whole life. Since then, Eve has gained certifications with 24-Hour Fitness, Cooper Institute, and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She worked with 24-hour Fitness and Health Fitness Corporation in the Dallas area as a personal trainer, using her nutrition background to effectively program design for her clients. Eve training specialties are weight loss, muscle gain, improved sports performance, and heightened core and flexibility.
Eve begins every client program with improvement of core strength, flexibility, and balance. This is to avoid injury in the gym or in sport. She feels that everyone, no matter how long they've been in the gym or exercising, can benefit from the expertise and encouragement of a personal trainer. You would never guess how many gym members aren't doing exercises biomechanically correct (with the right form) and could use a good workout session to correct some of the bad habits. A small push to get started on a program isn’t a bad idea either. You never know what you're missing until you try it out.
If you've never had a trainer and you're looking for one, even if you decide not to call on Eve, here are some ways to make certain your trainer is capable of helping you reach your goals:
1) Interview him/her like you're giving them a job. Don't be intimidated to ask questions regarding their background and years of experience.
2) Ask for a free session to see what their style is, or buy the smallest package to begin. Make sure you can have a working relationship with this person.
3) If you are beginning exercise for a reason (i.e. high blood pressure, pregnant), make sure he/she has experience with this type of client. If not, the exercises may exacerbate the situation or hurt you.
