Carlos
Goal: Understand how to control high sweat rate,
lose body fat and improve triathlon times
Carlos has participated in
Triathlon since 2008 when he joined Team In Training. He's
done five sprints and five Olympics, one 1/2 Ironman, one full
Aquabike with Redman Aquabike on the horizon again. Even
though he's done many races, it's still takes thought and adjustment
to his nutrition plan after every race.
To address Carlos' heavy sweating, therefore leading to cramping,
we first had him do several sweat tests running and cycling. The
weather was different when we first started this so we always have
to retest and adjust since he is greatly affected by heat. The other
extremely important issue we had to cover was if we're going to
replace that much fluid, we also have to replace electrolytes so he
doesn't experience hyponatremia.
Having a heavy sweat rate takes a lot of trail and error and
figuring out what products work best for your stomach and can be
absorbed well. This is exactly what we did and what we're
still going with Carlos.
